Variety of musashi swords!

by Frederick
(United States )

I own the Rosewood shirasaya katana, the zetsurin and the musashi wind dragon. I have had nothing but great experiences with these swords, and I shall tell you my experiences, so you generally have an idea of what caliber these swords are at.

Rosewood- This sword is very nice and sharp for the price. I missed a slice one time, and put this sucker through a garbage can, it sliced clean through, surprisingly no damage to the blade. I polished it, and the scratches were gone, and I mean a LIGHT polsih, it is very tough for 59 dollars, I would recomend this sword to anyone, though, be careful, without ito, this could slip out of your hands if they got sweaty, just a thought.

Zetsurin- The zetsurin has the same blade except it has an aikuchi mounting, meaning no hand guard. It is also nice that the sword has a little knife in the saya, this is called a "Kozuke knife" and it is unsharpened. Mainly used as a throwing weapon, the kozuke knife was never really meant to be a high quality, so it is okay so long as the katana blade is nice and sharp.

Wind dragon- And last but not least! The wind dragon is a sword that I had purchased right on sword-buyers-guide, it is a very nice sword, has tight fittings (surprising to say the least) and a sharp blade. The blade was a bit smudged, but that is okay I guess, seeing how I busted out a piece of sandpaper...lol, not really a busting out, but you get the idea. :)

Now, my favorite of all of these is the zetsurin, even thought the kozuke knife is not practical, I like it and the fact that It is in such a unique mounting that is not seen on a sword of it's price.

Now, all and all, they are nice blade, I would recomend the zetsurin as unique sword, the musashi wind dragon as a good beginners sword because it has the hand guard, just in case. I personally would not give an intermediate practitioner this sword, just because it can fly out of your hands from a number of things, and possibly from a missed cut or if it bounces off, something of that degree.

So, I hope this helped, go and have a nice holiday.
