Tiger Katana

When my wife and I bought our first house, we decided we wanted to decorate using an asian theme. I have always been fascinated by Japanese art and culture. So I started learning about swords. There was no way we could afford an antique samurai sword, so the next best thing was going to be one of the folded steel Paul Chen blades.

After much research, I chose the Tiger Katana. I like the longer tsuka as well as the artfully done saya with the bamboo leaf inlay. Truly a beautiful weapon and a work of art. I haven't done any serious cutting with it, but I did do a test slice through some paper. Very sharp.

One minor flaw, is that if you look lengthwise down the back of the blade, it is apparent that the thickness of the blade is uneven. It doesn't transition from thickest (habaki) to thinnest (kisaki) perfectly smoothly.

We keep it high on a shelf, out of the reach of inquisitive hands.
