I just got my new Kaze Ko Katana. It is a beautiful work of art. The blade itself has surpassed all my expectations. The only gripe I have is the way it fits in the saya, It is so tight you need two hands to remove it. If it was only tight at the mouth of the saya I wouldn't be to worried but its tight all the way through. So draw cutting will be impossible. But at this price I guess I can't complain to much. Any ideas or suggestions?
ANSWER:Hi Ron,
Some do indeed start very tight, however just repeatedly popping and resheathing it over a period of time will see it become more normalized reasonably quickly. If you wish to speed the process up, you can use something like a small file or emery board to file away a little of the wood in the koiguchi, though be careful not to remove too much in one sitting.
Bear in mind also that the fit will be looser in conditions of low humidity, so a slighty tighter fit than normal is a good idea.
Hope this helps.
