Problems with Darksword

by Dave Symons
(Canada)

I recently bought a Third Crusade sword from Dardsword through Paul (SBG). I had decided to purchace one of their swords because of the reputation that they have for durability. When the first sword arrived the threaded rod on the tang was stripped so the pommel would not stay on. A replacement arrived at my house in two weeks.

The second sword (the replacement) was disapointing to say the least. After a few swings at a small shrub the threaded rod snapped sending the pommel sailing away.

At this point I sent pictures of the broken tang and the shrub to both Paul and Darksword. Darksword's reply was that their tangs do no break, despite the pictures that I had set them. After several more e-mails they replied that their swords were made for steel to steel contact and not torture testing. (Just a thought but if a small shrub can break the tang how is it suppose to handle steel, not wood, with momentum striking it?). I do not know if this is their common busness practice I just though I would pass along my experiences with their company.

Paul on the other hand has been nothing but a man of integrity. Not only did I recieve a full refund from him but he has been most helpfull in advice for a true battle read sword. You would be hard pressed to find someone more honest than Paul.

Anyway, so far in my experiences I am 0/2 with Darksword.
