I ordered the Hanwei Practical Shinobi Ninja-to(PC1071)and have to admit that of all the swords I own, this is the sharpest and nicest one. There are no current reviews on the current generation Hanwei Shinobi Ninja-to, so this may help anyone looking to purchase one. The fittings are beautiful and the tsuka is very comfortable and tight. The addition of the one mekugi gives me the confidence to use this sword for cutting exercises. I was also looking at a Generation 2 Ninja-to but I have to say I really don't see how they can make it any better than the Hanwei Ninja-to, especially considering the price difference. Pictures do not do this sword justice, you need to see it and hold it to really get an understanding of how amazing this sword is. I purchased the sword through Kult of Athena and found them to be excellent and highly recommend them due to great prices and pre-inspecting the product before it ships.

Hanwei Ninja-to
by: Patrick

I first bought the practical ninja about 4-5 years ago... I forget. But the point is, this sword is a workhorse, through and through. It just fits like a glove and to hold it is to be with an old friend. That is the best way I can think to describe it. Since buying it, the charms on the scabbard have both fallen off, the scabbard looks horrible, the wrap has turned grey from sweat and dirt and age, and the blade has taken a severe beating, and through all the tough love I've given it, all the hours spent seeing just how bad a beating it could take, I am now a true believer in the practical line at Hanwei. I do plan on owning one of the tamahagane steel products from Hanwei in the future, but that sword will be in my house until the day I die. Or until I figure out how to break it, whichever comes first. It's getting hard to tell. If you are planning to shell out your hard-earned money for a "beater sword", do yourself a favor and just get the Hanwei ninja. It is priced just as well as almost any non-functional show sword, but you will absolutely love it.
