Not so impressed...

I purchased a Masahiro Katana nearly a year ago. It came in a triangle shaped cardboard box, that was also supposed to act as a display stand, but somewhere along the way one end of the box was crushed. The sword itself was was okay, until I removed it from the saya........The sword fit very poorly into the saya, actually it was so loose that holding it any way other than straight up and down caused the sword to fall out (not so good for the toes). The blade was sharp as advertised, but the edge was not consistent. The tip was bent, and had some rust spots. The fittings were not at all tight, and the blade rattled, I didn't feel comfortable swinging a sword that rattled that much, so I never cut with it. I purchased the sword on "clearance", so I could not return it. I sold it to a neighbor for $20 who just wanted something to hang on the wall. It looks good hanging on the wall, but that is about it. This is the only Masahiro product I have ever handled, so I can't say they are all bad, but I would be very reluctant to buy another one of their products in the future.

this sword is junk. started to rust in the saya without any use. impossible to clean even with a good polishing kit. the edge looked like it was sharpened with a straight edge 99 cent sharpener. Paul Chen puts this company to shame. an embarrasment to the iaido world.
