New to sword buying

by David Geis
(Copperhill, TN)

I recently bought a sword that was supposed to be battle ready.I have since learned that just because they say it is battle ready, does not mean it is. I wish I would have found SBG and Paul Southren before I got this sword. Your reviews, tests and advice are great.

This was my first sword buying experience. I have learned what full tang means and learned the difference between stainless steel and high carbon steel. I have been fascinated with swords since the first time I saw one.I am intrested in Scottish and Irish swords. My mother is of Scottish and Irish lineage and my father is German. I only have two life long dreams,to go to Scotland and to own a real sword. I am fascinated with all Medieval swords.

I do not make a lot of money but, Deanna my wife is trying to find a way for us to go to Scotland. She thinks I am crazy now, because all I talk about is buying swords online. Before I hated computers, now she cannot get me off her computer. Because I am always looking for swords. You were right Paul, you can not just buy one sword. We live in Tennessee. Thank you for your help Paul Southren. I love SBG AND SMG.

Thanks David!
by: Paul Southren

Thanks for your kind words David. I think many people who have been around the block for a while tend to forget that everyone has to start somewhere.

And while my introductions to swords are pretty basic, it is (I hope) a good foundation. Its a lifetime of study really. Every answer opens another question, and there is always something new to learn. I love it! :-)
