Masahiro mayhem!!!

by Diane
(United States )

Masahiro is just one of those sword brands with barely any quality control, or proper forging to the point where you want to pull your own hair out! Pretty bad huh? Well, not all are this way, they go up and down, good to bad. I am a sword enthusiast who bought a masahiro katana, it is my first and only katana, and it is nice, but when it boils down to performance, it just doesn't make the cut....literally. I have had this thing bounce off so many water bottles it just isn't funny.

I did sharpen it, and it now slashes the targets with ease, but it now feels as if it is going to fly out of the tsuka! All and all, it is a pretty bad brand, for practice though, the masahiro bamboo is (Should have explained with a little more clarity, I own the bamboo) an okay sword...Very light and maneuverable, it is a graceful sword, but with less weight comes less cutting power, so I would not recommend masahiro katanas at all, ever.

Thanks for rating and commenting on my page :D

But to answer the question that you left, I would most certainly go with a cheness sword, the tenchi or shura for edge retention, and I would not worry about sharpening, for they come nice and sharp right out of the box.

Get the PK if you are a more advanced cutter, for it is razor sharp and has excellent slashing power, especially seeing how it is glued into the handle, so it will not come loose under the stresses of cutting. Kaze katana for sharpness and good durability, not to mention the fact that you can take it apart and it also has a real hamon(Temper line).

I truly hope that I helped you.

Best wishes

Sal
