Hanwei practical european style peened pommel swords

by Ryan
(Langley, BC, Canada)

Great value for the money! In my group we have owned and/or used every practical european style sword hanwei makes. We have put them through rigorous blade on blade contact in many severe and unreasonable ways.

We have never had a peened pommel failure, only a few slightly loosened quillions, even by the time the blade has been retired from resembling a serrated steak knife.(took too many too hard hits unskillfully blocked).

My only gripe is the pommel on the hand and a half sword of the current version being too big for my liking. However, hanwei currently has plans for changing this.

Very popular swords
by: Paul Southren

Yes indeed, these swords are very popular. I have seen them used just about everywhere because they are so cheap, but also able to take some serious punishment. The tempering of the steel is exceptional for this price range. A bit basic looking, but more attractive than the first generation.
