DARKSWORD NEWS: May 31, 2008

Is it, just me - or are they saving the best swords for last...? ;-) Much like the Flame of Angels sword I reported on about a week ago, the Guardian Fully Functional Fantasy Sword was submitted to them as a drawing to be brought to life...

The artist, a good friend of mine Jason Woodard (who is no stranger to fantasy sword designs, having worked for Factory X and created the original concept art for the Sleepy Hollow and Underworld Fantasy Swords) created this sword as a tribute to his family history (his surname means 'Wood Guard' - Forest Guardian), and when he posted the original designs to me several months ago, I was more than impressed...

But just as impressive is what Eyal and the DSA team have done to bring his design to life...

Now that is one mean looking sword!

Speaking of MEAN, the 'blued' steel Black Knight pictured below is one of the most sinster looking blades - a true 'Darksword' indeed!

All of these swords are already available to buy at your favorite DSA retailers with both swords offered at a ridiculously low recommended retail price of $275. And it get's even more interesting as Darksword are about to launch a new in-house sharpening service, so you can choose to have these incredible durable swords SHARPENED for a small additional fee...

Darksword is definitely giving the medieval and fantasy sword market a run for their money!

P.S. There are several other new designs that have been listed at the DSA website here. The best of these designs will soon be listed at the SBG Sword Store which of course offers these blades with FREE SHIPPING in the USA and Canada. If you wish to pick up any of the DSA blades before they are listed at SBG, contact Paul at SBG for a quote.

DARKSWORD NEWS: May 24, 2008

You’ve seen a sneak preview of the Spectre Sword by DSA in the previous post, but here’s a few more previews of swords that are due to be released much sooner...!

The first show here is the Flame of Angels sword – a project originally started around 18 months ago as a competition instigated by Arms of Valor. After numerous set backs with trying to get it produced by Generation 2, it was picked up in Jan/February this year by DSA and went from this original concept sketch by competition winner and SBG contributor Adam Sharp:

To what you see below in only a few short months!

Next up, we have the The Battle of Crecy War Sword an arming sword inspired by the 100 years war. Very sleek lines and an attractive blade making it hard to believe that these hand forged swords will be available for under US$300...

All of these models, plus a few more should be available within the next couple of weeks – more updates later.

DARKSWORD NEWS: May 15, 2008

Darksword Armory, who have in the past been selected by several movie and documentary productions for their low prices, fast turn around and uber-durable products have created another blade for the independent fantasy movie ‘the Spectre’ – due to be released in the fall 2008.

Below is one of the three prototypes they have produced for the movie – with the sword going into production for sword collectors and to be made available soon after the movie is released.

One of Three Actual Movie Swords to be used in the upcoming independent fantasy film, the Spectre

What is more, Jason from Arms of Valor who kindly provided the pictures will be helping with some of the fight choreography as well as appearing in a few scenes, so it is sure to be realistic for a change... ;-)

Jason had this to say about the sword: “This will not be available for purchase for about 4 months (timed with the release of the film), but will be available for pre-order before that. I have seen and handled the sword in person and I am amazed by it. It really almost has a life of it's own! It is a bit heavy at 5 pounds, but not bad for a fantasy sword. Being made by Darksword Armory it is fully battle ready as needed for filming.”

Definitely something any fantasy sword buffs should be keeping an eye on, that is for sure...
