CHENESS NEWS: October 27, 2008
It ended up taking a bit longer than what was initially intended. However, the Cheness 9260 Spring Steel Tanto is now only a few weeks away from being available!
While no pictures will be released until the blade is listed for sale, I have seen a sneak preview and I must say that this Tanto will definitely be worth the wait...
With a true Moroha Kissaki, sharpened on the ha and the mune (spine) this is a tanto that promises to excel and both cutting and thrusting, and has fittings that make it the perfect companion to the Tenchi Katana and Wakizashi - allowing anyone who owns these other excellent blades to complete their daisho collection.
The blade will be 11" long from the tsuba with a decent length 6.5" tsuka and an overall length of 19.5" in the black lacquered saya.
I think that once you see it first hand, you'll see they were worth the wait.

It is official...!
After many email requests for a 9260 Spring Steel Tanto knife, Cheness Cutlery have given the green light to producing one.
In a recent telephone conversation to Mr. Chen, he announced that a 9260 Tanto would likely be hitting the market in approximately 6 months. At this early stage, the design is for a fairly generic piece - as Tanto (unlike Wakizashi) certainly did not have to match a specific Katana in their line up and would be of a stand alone design.
So to anyone who has been asking or wondering - it is just a question of time now - with more details will forthcoming soon..
