Celtic Sword With Pros and Cons
The Generation 2 Celtic Sword is to say the least a HEAVY sword, especially for its type. Weighing at nearly 3 pounds, the weapon is most certainly not meant for agile and fast cutting, but rather powerful chopping and cutting. The smooth and long polished wood handle makes it difficult to handle the weapon securely one handed without a glove with a firm grip, so if you have any knowledge of working with leather, modifying the hilt might be a good idea. Another thing to note is the cutting abilities of the weapon. This weapon was true to its chopping nature when I tried cutting light targets such as soda bottles, milk cartons, and Gatorade bottles. Most of the time the blade barely cut into it before sending it flying away like a projectile. To say the least, I was alittle disappointed, but I didn't give up just yet. I moved on to heavier targets such as branches about 4 inches thick. It was here that the Celtic sword proved its worth. In only a few light chops, I had cut through the wood. I could easily cut firewood with the sword as well, and only after cutting for an hour or so with wood did I sustain a slightly rolled edge and minuscule nicks, which I quickly was able to pound back to normal and touched up so now the rolled edge only slightly shows with alittle cosmetic damage I could not get rid of without polishing. Overall I am happy with the results because I got it for only about 150 US dollars. It is now considered my "junk" sword which I use to cut for fun without worrying about damage at all. |
