A huge disappointment

It is true that Kris cutlery makes strong katana, but what about everything else?

The tsuka when shipped was damaged, a few cracks, but enough to affect performance. Saya was okay, aside from a few minor scratches. The blades polish was nauseating, as it was rather uneven, it was okay, but a few polishing defects that I had to get out of the blade myself.

I did complain about the tsuka, I got another right away. I was happy with the fittings now, aside from them being untraditional, which didn't bother m at all. Now when I cut with it, it was able to handle targets like I thought it could have, such as water bottles, milk jugs, green tea jugs which are thick and very heavy when filled. Bamboo was felled effortlessly as if the target was not there to begin with. There were a few things that needed to be cleared, but all and all, it is an okay sword, a B+(it passed :-) at best. I would recommend this sword to anyone looking for strong steel, just be prepared to do some work if it ever came down to it, as this sword did arrive a bit smudged.

Thanks to you Paul, for giving me the opportunity to write this, long live sword-manufacturers-guide!!!!

Sorry, I could not help myself :)

well you called it huge disappointment but then you went on to say you cut through bamboo like it wasnt there, for 200 bucks your not going to get top end tsuka maki shi or a fine polish like a Bugei has .

the blades alone are worth the 200 dollar price tag

I have heard wayyyyy too many people that swear by them, it does not mean that every sword is perfect, even though that is what I have heard, so yeah...This blows a lot of peoples statments out of the water, that will make people angry, but I am happy with it xD

Thanks for the information :D

I have always wondered about them myself, where I have not really found any doable info on the web, this convinced me to take another approach in buying of katanas.

Thanks
