A day at a sword stand

In VA near Natural chimeny a year ago they had a medival festival and as I was walking around I saw a sword stand with swords of horriable quality all of them you could find on the internet for about 20-80 bucks but he was selling them 150-400 bucks and the owner had amassed group of 8 to 12 people listening to him and he was holding a katana and he was telling people about the sword first he was asked a question by a kid in the group he asked what could the sword cut through car door myself expecting the man to say no since no sword can CUT THROUGH A CAR DOOR said "yes this sword has been folded 5,000,000 times it could cut a car door clean in half" I almost fell over in disbelief.

And yes he did say the sword was folded 5,000,000 times and the really sad thing was that the group was actually buying it.

By this point I had it and then he added that this sword was custom made and that there are only about 100 in the U.S after he said that I said so that the entire crowd can he me that all the swords that this stand is selling are cheap knock offs and wall hangers and that all of these swords could be easily be found on the internet and left the stand as well most of the group.

After looking on the internet I found the sword he was using and was selling it for $285 when the site I got this from was selling it for $67.95

just sad

i've had some pretty bad experiences with sword vendors. Even some supposedly reputable stores, such as house of knives, sometimes have horrible employees that make ridiculous claims. i had one guy claim that he owned a Hanwei dao this one actually: http://www.kultofathena.com/product~item~PC2063~name~Hanwei+Practical+Kung-Fu+Sword.htm

and that he had used it to cut a steel pipe in half. clean in half he claimed, he said that he had never had a better sword. i was just in looking around, and i called him out for that. i asked if he knew that he was spouting off mouthfuls of crap. he asked me what i was talking about. i explained. he apologized and said that he almost always had customers who had no idea what they were buying.....palm ---> face.

Six year olds don't complain about grammar, but at any rate, that's hilarious, 5 million times. Hah.

I remember long ago watching some episode of batman beyond and they had this one sword on the show that was supposedly a molecule thin and could basically cut through anything. And I thought it was pretty awesome and believable at the time (being ten something years old, I believed alot of stupid things), but as I got older I realized... a sword a molecule thin wouldn't be able to stand up to any impact, ever.

Cut me a break

Cut me a break I'm not the greatest at grammar so sue me it was written also somewhat in a hurry.

p.s complaining about it also makes you seem like a six year old. This is about swords not my grammar

Punctuation!

Do you ever use periods or commas? I sympathize with what you've said, but your grammar and punctuation make your writing look like that of a six year old.

This post is written in response to Carter Revell about his medival fair experinece. I went to one recently down here in Florida in Deerfield Beach where I bought my first sword. The stand I bought it from was honest and up front about the swords they sold and the prices were the equivalent of what they went for online. They sold me a nice Paul Chen hand a half blunt European Longsword for about $125 which is what it goes for online. It is carbon steel just like they said and I used it against a few soda cans and a plastic pretzel container. Despite the edge being very blunt, my friend was able to shatter the plastic cap off it with one strong blow. No real damage was done to the sword other than a few scrapes and some metal shavigns came off the blade. Nothing some brass cleaner/ polish could not solve. So not all Medival fair stands will rip you off with junk. I also bought a fine leather belt and frog from another stand for respectable prices again. Just felt I should state this. Nothing agains SMG or SBG however! Because of them I learned about Dark Sword Armory and I have ordered a medival two hander from them after reading multiple reviews and watching the destruction videos. I love this website! Keep up the good work.

Unbelievable
by: Paul Southren

Wow, what a joker! Folded 5,000,000 times? Lol, poor people watching him who didn't know any better...

Well, hopefully they will learn - but good on you for standing up to his lies! (unless, even sadder, he actually believed his own drivel!).

Ah, well - hopefully those people will one day find SBG, SMG or one of the other informational sites out there. Can only hope...
